Here the artist chooses a uniform dark background, like certain Renaissance portraits, to allow for concentration on the conceptual elaboration of the figure which, as usual, interweaves into material threads of color, offering itself in a magical suspension of detachment from all sides: from below, from above, from right, from left, and from the background.
